MINDO LOCATION

Mindo is a rural parish in Ecuador, located in San Miguel de los Bancos canton in the province of Pichincha. The parish is known for its growing ecotourism industry based in the Mindo-Nambillo Protected Forest. The Mindo area ranges from approximately 1400 to 4780m above sea level, and the geographical coordinates are 0° 20' 0" South, 78° 48' 0" West; its most popular attractions are typical of the cloud forest flora and fauna.

Temperatures range from about 15ºC – 24ºC (60ºF – 75ºF), and rain storms are common throughout the year, although the climate is driest from May – September. July - October are the busiest months for overseas tourists, but weekends and national holidays throughout the year find many people from places nearby in Mindo.

HOTEL LOCATION

Les Décans is located within the Mindo parish, 10 minutes by walking away from the cloud forest. Our hotel offers comfortable rooms made out of natural materials. Additionally, the hotel stance payments include breakfast and dinner.

Our restaurant serves fresh and organic food which is mostly typical to the region. Our lunch schedule is between 11:30 am - 2:00 pm and menu includes:

ü  Camarones Apanados: 8 Breaded Shrimps, served with rice, slices of tomatoes over lettuce and avocado

ü  Arroz con Camaron: Yellow rice with 6 shrimps, green peas, green peppers, onions and carrots.

ü  Viste de carne: Fried beef with tomatoes and green paper, served with white rice and fried green plantains

ü  Arroz Mixto: Yellow rice with small pieces of chicken and pork, green peas, green peppers, onions, tomatoes and carrots

ü  Filete de Tilapia Frita: Fried tilapia fillet, served w/ rice, fried green plantains, and salad.

ü  Pollo frito: A fillet of fried chicken served with white rice lettuce salad and fried green plantains.

ü  Arroz Marinero - Ecuadorian Seafood Paella: A combination of yellow rice w/green peas, carrots, green peppers, onions, mussels, shrimp, calamari, octopus.

ü  Fritada de chancho: Fried pork with fried green plantains and lettuce salad

Our hotel strives to generate sufficient income to assure a good management of the natural area (Mindo), maintain and enhance the property, as well as provide a professional environment for our visitors and employees. The hotel assists the community while bringing wealth and resources to its inhabitants.

Our tour guides are native from Mindo; they receive high level of education and training with regards to the environment, so that they can provide great level of service to our visitors.

Besides, we produce and conserve energy from solar panels and wind-generators and also recuperate, protect and recycle our water. Furthermore, we preserve and protect our environment by recycling food-waste as compost for fertilizer. We also reduce pollution by recycling waste and eliminating gas-generators, planting native tree species, and generating of plants and flowers.

We expect mostly family members and couples between ages of 22 to 48 to visit our gorgeous natural area.
